Business partners Ailsa and Wendy both have creative backgrounds. Ailsa holds a BA honours degree in woven textiles and a diploma from the Interior Design Institute. Working both in the fashion industry as a designer and buyer for some of the largest fashion retailers in the country and then in interior design, means having a wealth of experience in fabrics, colour and texture combined with the knowledge of how to make them work together for great effect.
Wendy also spent years in the fashion industry learning about fabrics, colour and style and how they work together in so many ways for a variety of effects. During this time she developed a passion for interior design while being asked to work privately on various interior design projects and creating beautiful schemes. Over time Wendy found she had a talent and liking for working with contractors who would implement her interiors schemes which covered the range of buildings trades and Wendy was then able to carry out complete projects from conception and design through to installation.
Working with contractors can be challenging and many people find it a difficult experience. However, for Wendy & Ailsa it is something they enjoy and Amersham Interiors have access to a range of tradespeople who respond well to exacting requirements. Implementing a full interiors scheme can include all the decorating trades as well as finishing trades such as curtain and blind makers and fitters, flooring installers and bespoke cabinet makers to mention a few.
Ailsa and Wendy at Amersham Interiors can design, coordinate and install an entire scheme for you or just supply the fabrics and wallpapers you need to do it yourself. I have been using Amersham Interiors for many years to help with the interior decor of our last three houses. The company changed hands a while ago and due to the service I had always had from the previous owner decided to continue with the new owner. ! have no regrets. Ailsa and her team work well together. They are friendly, helpful and patient. I always have an idea in my head regarding fabrics, although not always able to give much direction! Ailsa soon understood exactly what sort of fabric style would be appealing to me and what wouldn’t.
They were able to change direction when I flitted about until I was absolutely sure that I had the perfect fabric for my curtains. After years of denial due to a ‘phobia’ of domestic decorating upheaval, it was high time we put our own personal touch on the whole of our downstairs living area. Facing the prospect of having to curtain and accessorise an entire
five-bedroom house, we approached Amersham Interiors having been somewhat
